Karen Garner is the Founder and President of Magnolia Homes, a company she established in 1987 as a single mother with a deep passion for homebuilding. For more than 38 years, she has grown Magnolia into one of the Mid-South’s most respected homebuilders. From day one, she has been known for her unwavering commitment to quality and personalized design and has coined “that extra touch” as the company’s signature. Her leadership spans every aspect of the business—from community development and home design to construction oversight and the celebrated homeowner experience. Under Karen’s direction, Magnolia Homes has earned multiple Vesta Home Show awards, the Memphis Most Best Homebuilder honors multiple years in a row, national recognition from the National Association of Home Builders, and placement on Professional Builder Magazine’s Housing Giants List. She was named the Memphis Business Journal’s 2008 Small Business Executive of the Year and is a 2019 MBJ Super Woman in Business. 

She is also Co-Owner and Broker of Oak Grove Realty and has served on several community boards throughout her career. A dedicated philanthropist, Karen supports organizations such as Make-A-Wish, Methodist Healthcare Foundation, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Collierville Education Foundation, Main Street Collierville, and many more. Rooted in Memphis since childhood, she credits her strong work ethic and perseverance to her mother, her greatest mentor.

Today, Karen continues to guide Magnolia Homes’ growth, championing exceptional design and creating timeless, personalized homes for families across the Mid-South. When she isn’t working, she cherishes quality time and many travels spent with her husband, Steve, and their grandchildren.
