Established in the 1800s, Collierville is a charming town steeped deep in history. In fact, the Historic Town Square can be found on the National Register of Historic Places. Named “America’s Best Main Street” in 2014, its well-preserved Victorian homes and gazebo in the park will transport you to another time. On the third Thursday of each month, come out to Collierville Square and enjoy “3rd Thursdays on the Square.” From 5-8pm, the restaurants offer dining and drink specials while the shops stay open late. A night devoted to good food and shopping is a great way to spend some time with friends or perhaps even a date night!
Thursdays keep the good times coming in June and July during Collierville’s Summer Concert Series. Every Thursday from 7-9pm, you can enjoy a different musical delight at Town Square Park. Spend the evening alone with just a lawn chair and cooler or pack a blanket and picnic basket for a family night everyone will love.
On Saturday, May 11, 2019, bring your young anglers out to WC Johnson Park for the Collierville Youth Fishing Rodeo. A free family event for kids 12 and under, registration begins at 8am. Fishing begins at 9am and will continue for two hours until weigh-ins begin at 11am. Prizes and trophies will be awarded for winners in each of the following categories: 6 and under; 7-8 years; 9-10 years and 11-12 years. Even though the kids will be doing the fishing, this will be a great opportunity for the family to spend some time together.
Make plans for Friday, May 10 or Saturday, May 11, 2019 to join in on Fever 1878. Starting at 5pm, take a 90-minute tour of Collierville Square’s streets. Hear about the Yellow Fever that struck the town in the summer of 1878 and visit period buildings that are still standing today. Enjoy a round-trip journey on Collierville’s Double Decker bus to Magnolia Cemetery to learn about its history and hear stories of how the Fever impacted the town. Enjoy Magnolia’s striking monuments as well as grave art. The tour ends at Main Street Collierville where you will enjoy a reception that includes a complimentary cocktail. Tickets for this event are 20.00 and limited so don’t wait too long!
The third Thursday of November promises a good time for you and your girlfriends during Girls Night Out. Start the holiday shopping season off right while enjoying all the Town Square has to offer from 5-8pm. Merchant specials, in-store giveaways and prizes make this an event you will not want to miss.
