2025 Interior Design Trends

2025 is almost here!!! With it brings a buzz of excitement for all the opportunities that are to come with a fresh, new year, especially in the world of interior design! Last month, we covered the expected color trends for 2025, and today we’re sharing all the inspiring trends we cannot wait to see in residential spaces next year. If your interest is piqued with cottage core palettes, retro designs, bold colors, and tactile textures, you’re in for a treat for the upcoming year! Here are the Interior Design Trends we’re projecting to see in 2025.

Bring On the Curves!

One design element that we saw emerge in 2024 was the use of curves, arches and rounded lines in architecture. The use of these elements will continue to flourish in the interior design world in 2025. Curves soften any room and create a sense of movement and flow, providing a more dynamic and inviting space. We have seen and will continue seeing curves utilized in the architecture of homes, such as in arches between doorways, in built-in nooks, and in windows. Rounded shapes will be seen in our furniture pieces as well – couches, armchairs, mirrors, and more!

Wellness Spaces

In 2025, we’re all about creating space for wellness, including in our homes! One design feature to watch for in the new year is home wellness spaces! This versatile trend could be reflecting calming colors on the walls or considering more natural lighting to promote relaxation and serenity. A specific home wellness space that will steal the spotlight this year is a spa-like, spacious bathroom. How luxurious! We’re expecting to see an increase in “shower rooms” – incorporating a sizable walk-in shower where your bathtub is also located. Talk about feeling fully pampered and rejuvenated from the comfort of your own home!

Another wellness trend from this past year that will remain popular in 2025 is integrated outdoor living. This could look like outdoor kitchens or the use of retractable doors, such as Jeld-Wen doors or Nanawalls. By using the retractable doors to the patio, you are inviting the outside in and merging the two spaces with ease. This promotes increased relaxation and connectivity with nature – something we all could benefit from!

Modern Cottage Core/Minimalist

One of our favorite trends we see going into 2025 is the cottage core and quiet luxury trend!

The cottage core trend consists of incorporating warm and rich tones, with natural and earthy materials within your home. Derived from European influence and English design, the cottage core or quiet luxury trend is making headway with the use of natural stone, such as marble, darker flooring, wall molds, and so many more elements found in the natural world.

Cottage core goes hand-in-hand with the use of minimalism in design. Using a minimalistic approach to these eco-centric designs, homeowners and interior designers gravitate towards the creamy, beige, and brown tones that complement the other features used throughout the home, such as a tumbled stone fireplace! In addition, this palette pairs well with rattan, wicker, and vintage finds, which can be displayed as light fixtures, wall decor, or furniture pieces!

At Magnolia Homes, we love to lean into this style by using stained cedar beams, natural stone walkways, custom limestone mantels, and a variety of other design elements! One way your home can mimic the “Quiet Luxury” trend is by opting for stained cabinets as opposed to painted. This trend incorporates so many classic looks and achieves the feel of a cozy and welcoming home.

Vintage + Retro Styles

Throwback Thursday, anyone?! Vintage and Retro styles are making a strong comeback into the interior design palette, but with a modern and sophisticated twist! If you read along in our 2025 Interior Paint Color trends, you learned that there is a deep desire for colors and features of your home to evoke emotion with historic hues. Adding nostalgic furniture pieces, bold patterns, and antique décor is the perfect way to bring personality to your space.

You can give breathe of relief; this does not mean shag carpet is coming back in style! However, we do expect to see the incorporation of texture throughout the home, especially on interior walls. Fluted wallpaper designs and intricate trim work on ceilings can be fun yet simple ways to personalize your space. You will also see the reemergence of woven materials seen on cabinet fronts, mostly utilized in a butler’s pantry, half bathroom, or even on window treatments. Natural woven materials add softness to typically hard surfaces, providing the warmth and comfort that will saturate the 2025 interior design world.

The vintage style trend also encompasses adding antique furnishings and fixtures into your home. This endlessly versatile trend includes incorporating historic details, geometric shapes, and a subtle touch of glamour. Rich, dark wood dressers add a historic charm that can refresh any room aesthetic.

Color + Boldness

If you haven’t experimented yet with adding color in your home, 2025 is your year to do so! A trend we have seen emerge in interior design in recent years is the use of bold colors will continue to lead the way in residential style in the new year!

Give your entry way, half bath, or another room in your home a pop of color when you color drench! Color drenching is the beauty of painting your trim, ceiling, and doors the same color as your walls. Whether you enjoy a bright and a vibrant look or have a taste for more dark and moody hues, this floor-to-ceiling trend is guaranteed to give your home that WOW factor! Plus, it is a great way to make any room look bigger.

Another concept we’re seeing – pattern-drenching! This is achieved by incorporating multiple patterns and materials in a specific space. For example, this could look like using a bright floral couch located on top of checkered marble tile in a moody-painted room. There are no limits on creative dreams in 2025!

If you’re wanting to be bold without committing to a specific color, wallpaper is the way to go! This is the perfect way to turn a guest bathroom, butler’s pantry, or bedroom into a conversation piece. With unlimited design options, this artistic element can be molded to fit your vision and space.

Don’t forget to look up! Aside from color, you can elevate the look of a room when you add flair and design to your ceilings. Instead of a traditional white ceiling or flush mount light fixture, try incorporating elegant and intricate lighting, such as a chandelier, or applying a designer wallpaper to your ceiling.

That’s a wrap on all of the design elements we expect to see in 2025! We are simply adoring the subtle shifts in nostalgic home design. We are always excited to see fresh and new ideas, while implementing timeless and classic details throughout our homes!
